When you have requested your unblock code, how is it sent to you?

I have waited 10 days as advised and heard nothing via email or text. If it has been posted to me I am overseas so cannot access my post at this time. I urgently need the code but am unable to call 150. Is there a customer services email I would be able to contact for advice?

This is normally done by text. And it is 10 working days

Hi @Gemmahs and welcome to the Community.

All unlocking codes (except Apple devices) are sent to both the contact number give to us and the email address provided.

So I can try and assist, please let me know the following:

  • Type of phone:
  • How the unlock was requested:

Many thanks,

Lee

Re: When you have requested your unblock code, how is it sent to you?

The phone is an iPhone 5c (purchased from EE) and I requested the unblock code by filling in the form online. I did receive an email confirming my request but have heard nothing since - I need to be able to use my phone urgently as I am travelling alone and without being able to contact others I am left quite vulnerable!

Hi @Gemmahs

Have you tried popping another network SIM and performing a backup and restore as that is the process to unlock an iphone.

Let me know how you get on.

Many thanks,

Lee

By whom? You? If not, you can't use the form. For 2nd hand phones you need to call EE.

I purchased it myself and I am unable to call EE from overseas

Re: When you have requested your unblock code, how is it sent to you?

No I have not tried this as I assumed it would remain locked without the code? How are things different with an iPhone? As I have paid to receive the unlock code, I am increasingly unhappy with EEs service as this is not the first time I have been let down by them. I think it's time for a new contract when I return home with another company.

Re: When you have requested your unblock code, how is it sent to you?

@Gemmahs If you have no signal because your abroad and you didn't enabled roaming on your account then how do you expect EE to text you that it's unlocked?     And there is no code for an iPhone it's controlled by Apple and you only need to put a different network SIM card in the device to complete the unlock process.

I do have signal I just can't call due to the cost of making an international call- I can still receive texts from EE I just haven't received one regarding the unblocking of my phone (despite being told I would be informed of any delays via text by EE). Fingers crossed a new sim will work without a code!

Re: When you have requested your unblock code, how is it sent to you?

@Gemmahs   How long have you had the device from EE ?  As EE will not unlock a device if you've had it less than 6 months if you got the device yourself from EE.

I've had it almost two years so that shouldn't be an issue

Re: When you have requested your unblock code, how is it sent to you?

@Gemmahs   Get yourself a different  network SIM card and put it in the device.  It sounds like you just haven't received the text from EE telling you it's unlocked.

You actually don't use a code with a iPhone as the unlock of the device is controlled by Apple and their activation servers.

The SIM card you use has to come from a network that supports the iPhone.
