Uploading photos to PC

Tried to upload photos from my Pixel 3a to (Windows) PC. Receive "having trouble connecting" message on PC, followed by "make sure your device is unlocked". Seems a bit extreme just to upload photos! Can any body help, do I really have to unlock the phone and will unlocking effect my service from EE?

When is says unlocked it means you have activated the phone and it's not in a locked state/lock screen.


When you connect for the first time your PC (via cable) should take a minute to load in drivers and then ask "what do you want to do with this device" so everytime you connect it will activate the same action.


If you use your PC file explorer and search the phone -DCIM folder is what you are looking for.
