Unlocking Nokia 3310 (2017 new version)

Bought last year from Argos locked to ee network on payg. Was looking to upgrade, reducing this to second phone at best - so would like to pass it on.

Followed the instructions, completed the form, sorted out the imei, entered it correctly.

Texted by ee that could not be unlocked "due to the age of your handset".

I find it difficult to believe this is true.

Is it? Even the manufacturers still refer to this as new!

Is the fault with Argos, ee or Nokia?

Re: Unlocking Nokia 3310 (2017 new version)

You cannot use the online unlocking form for phones not bought directly from EE.

To unlock a phone not bought directly from EE you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

Re: Unlocking Nokia 3310 (2017 new version)

You may well be right.

If only that was what the text said, but I quoted it verbatim - it baldly states that it was age not provenance.

I must say, I'm increasingly unimpressed both with ee's website and its opacity and their ability to communicate (!) in general. Every online enquiry throws you back to the community link.

Thanks for your help. I felt confident that the text was a lie anyway. They may well have to take my £8.99 anyway.

Best wishes.

Re: Unlocking Nokia 3310 (2017 new version)

Contacted ee as you advised yesterday. Now it's wait and see.

It's thought that, even with the IMEI they saw Nokia 3310 and simply took fright! A note has now been attached.

And it was said that the £8.99 unlocking fee no longer applies.

Fingers crossed that it is now solved.

Thanks again.
