'Un-blacklisting' a phone's IMEI number?

 My phone was stolen last night. I called EE, and they told me that 'blacklisting' the phone's IMEI number was an option, ensuring that the phone was useless to anybody who might have stolen it. Problem is, it doesn't sound like it's very easy to 'un-blacklist' the phone if I ever manage to obtain it again. On top of that, I'm not the original owner, I bought the phone second-hand - would this make things more difficult if I ever tried to 'un-blacklist' it?

Un-blacklisting the device is just as simple as blacklisting it, When you call ee they would leave notes on you account showing the reason you called. This would show the IMEI number you requested to be blacklisted. As such they can un-blacklist it for you if the IMEI matches, you may need to take the device to an EE store for them to verify it is the same device but once this is done it will take up to 24 hours to un-blacklist the device.

The difficulty I'm finding is that for 48 hours the customer services keep telling me the blacklisting system is playing up. Blacklisting took 10 mins; unblacklisting the found phone is still not fulfilled after 2.5 days. Any help would be appreciated. Thank u

I’m having the same issue I’ve spent all day calling EE and I’m getting no where they are driving me crazy and every time you call it’s a different problem 4 times I have called today and nothing

I was told yesterday afternoon there was a problem with the blacklisting side then I called back about 17:00 then told there not been a problem at all 

 

so I don’t think anyone knows what they are doing at all

The blacklist request was done 09:30 Friday morning I have spoken to apple and it’s a carrier issue

its now gone to another department that can take up to 72hours for a call back I’m losing money as my phone is my job and I’ve been without my iPhone 3days then another 72hrs

I’m a European Hgv driver so I’m screwed and I’ll be out the country for 2weeks only thing I’ve got is a tablet 😬
