Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

Hello everybody,

I am from Germany and have bought a used S5 at ebay.de.
After plugging in my sim, I had to enter an unlock code.
Afterwards I called Samsung and they told me that this cell
phone "Imei 355828068859052" was blocked by EE. How can I unlock
the phone from Germany now?
Many thanks for your help!

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

@FlitzeUdo: To unlock a 2nd-hand phone you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

But even so beware that EE could still refuse to unlock it. Many phones sold 2nd-hand have been reported lost or stolen, have been sold by the original owner when under 6 months old without EE's permission or have money owing on them.

If that is the case your only remedy is against whoever you got the phone from.

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

Hello,

It may be possible to send an email to the unlocking team
instead of calling. For me it is difficult by phone and also
a bit expensive from Germany!

Hi @FlitzeUdo

No you have to call as per @XRaySpeX instructions. Probably should have factored this into your purchase.

Thanks

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

@FlitzeUdo  You say the device is blocked, if it is it will not be unlocked for you as only the original device own can ask EE to remove the block on the device to get it unlocked.

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

EE provides no email contact. You have to phone with a UK bank card. It is the only way. Did you research how to unlock a foreign phone before buying it?

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

Hi @FlitzeUdo and welcome to the community.

Is the device blacklisted by EE or locked to an EE SIM?

Many thanks,

Lee

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

That's a good question. Unfortunately, I'm not so good with Netlock / Branding / Simlock ...
The phone works completely. When I insert my German Sim I have to enter an unlock code.
The Samsung Hotline has informed me on the basis of the imei, I must turn to EE to unlock.

Re: Samsung S5 - SM G901F - Phone Unlock

Hi @FlitzeUdo,

As the phone just needs an unlock code, please follow the advice @XRaySpeX posted earlier in the thread.

Thanks

James
