Nokia Lumia 735 unlocking

Hey,

I made a thread about unlocking this same phone (Never got around to it) and I believe the process has changed regarding second hand phones and PAYG phones.

Basically I want to unlock my Old Nokia Lumia 735 so that I can pass it on to my mum.  It meets requirements.

-Phone was bought in 2014 as PAYG.

-SIM bought with phone still belongs to me.  It is inside the phone I'm using right now, a Samsung s6, with the same number.  Nothing has been changed.

The only problem I had when filling out the online form was it told me something along the lines of "Account not registered correctly.". Its registered as far as I know.  The "Benefits of signing up" can all be done.  Like getting a pack and checking the MyEE app on WiFi.  All details are filled in.

I've always taken it out the two times I've tried unlocking because I need it for my current phone.  By any chance do I need to keep the SIM inside the phone while it's being unlocked?

Thanks for the help.

Re: Nokia Lumia 735 unlocking

Hi @Jamie__S13 and welcome back to the community.

The error message you are receiving is in relation to the actual account registration.

We have your details on MYEE but we do not have them paired up with your number itself.

Please do give customer service a call and they will be able to do a full registration

Hope that helps,

Lee

How to unlock 2nd-hand phone from EE network

You cannot use the online form for unlocking 2nd-hand phones.

To unlock a 2nd-hand phone you need to call Customer Services on 0800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

But even so beware that EE could still refuse to unlock it. Many phones sold 2nd-hand have been reported lost or stolen, have been sold by the original owner when under 6 months old without EE's permission or have money owing on them.

If that is the case your only remedy is against whoever you got the phone from.
