It says online that devices purchased from EE as part of a monthly contract are unlocked after they are 18 months old. I want to use another sim in my phone whilst abroad, however, when I have checked my IMEI number online, my phone is still locked to EE despite being nearly 24 months old.

That only applies to iPhones. Is your phone an iPhone?

My phone is iPhone 7 and 23 month old. Why is NOT unlocked yet?
I’ve just tried with other SIM. Also iTunes doesn’t say “Congratulations your iPhone is unlocked now!”
Please unlock ALL iPhones what are more then 18 month old right now because you promised it!

@TheMan80 Where did you get the device from ? If it wasn’t from EE directly EE will not unlock it at 18 months. And if the device was from EE and it’s not been unlocked yet you’ll need to call customer services as this is a public forum that has no access to your account.
And EE do not have to unlock ALL iPhones now as you don’t know even if that’s possible as you don’t have access to any customers account to see there current status.

Yes the phone purchased from EE. Why should we call EE about unlock if the EE is advertising unlock after 18 month?
Thanks for advice. I’m calling EE end of this week about unlocking and leaving. 🙂

Is that matter on any unlocked iphone?
it was Virgin, O2 and 3. Shoud try all of mobile providers SIM card? 8-/

@TheMan80 Yes it does matter as 3 SIM cards don’t always work when performing the unlock on the device and Virgin use the EE network to give their customers a signal. But seeing as you’ve used a o2 SIM card and it didn’t work you’ll need to call customer services.
