I need to unlock an O2 phone so I can use my EE sim in it

I recently dropped my iphone 5 in the sea on holiday, and therefore, have been kindly given an iphone 3GS by a friend. The phone was previous used on the O2 network so it needs to be unlocked so I can use it with my EE sim.

Can someone tell me how I do this please.

@babsk1  Ask your friend to request O2 to unlock it form them.  Or ask them yourself.  You will also need to get a SIM card adapter as the iPhone 5 uses a small SIM card.  Or you can request a new SIM card from EE.

Thank you, I have done that now as I contacted O2 and that is what they told me. I already have the adapter. Thanks for your time.
