I bought a SIM card for a holiday in Australia at the airport but the phone won't work with the new SIM in unless I unlock the network. When I try to submit an unlock phone request it sounds like it's going to delete my EE sim-only contract, which I don't want. I am still paying EE for UK phone while away.
Please help! Thanks

How long have you owned the phone and what tariff are you on?
EE unlocking guide is here.

If the device had been on your contract for at least 6 months, even if that contract has now been cancelled, you can just apply using the Unlocking your device form as the Pay Monthly option and giving the mobile number that it used to have. It will first show your current phone on that number & ask whether that is the device you want to unlock? If not, you will then have to type in the IMEI of the old phone.
There's nowt in that that sounds like it's going to delete your EE sim-only contract. It's only concerned with the device not its SIM.

Thanks to all who replied, I have started that process now. If EE weren't charging £6 a day for data plus inflated call charges, I wouldn't need to get an Oz sim. But the £8.99 charge seems excessive for someone who has been a customer for nearly 20 years. Still, that wasn't your call!
And yes, the weather is a little warmer than the UK right now...
