“Enter Special Code” - Motorola MR1

Hi,

I have a 1994 Motorola MR1 brick phone which is locked to Orange.

My phone says “Enter Special Code” when I put an EE SIM card inside.

I have spoke to you guys previously who say speak to Motorola, and I’ve spoken to Motorola who say speak to Orange.

Can you please tell me how to unlock this phone?

Side note - I have been on all these websites which unlock phones, even the ones EE recommend and my mobile is uncompatible. Also been into an EE store and the guy looked at me and laughed, and said couldn’t be unlocked.

Did you buy this device yourself new direct from EE/Orange or is it 2nd-hand? The process & costs are different.

@JS6  Some really old devices can not be unlocked so you could just be going round in circles.

You could try calling Customer Services on 0800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

If they can't do it, then it can't be done.
