Device unlock

I have cancelled my contract with EE paid the fees to cancel. Surely I am legally entitled to unlock a device which granted is under 6 months with the EE network but I have paid for so now own???

Re: Device unlock

This doesn’t cover my question

my contract was under 6 months old at the time of cancelling , it’s still under 6 months now that it’s cancelled how can they hold me ransome, I may need to sue them

Re: Device unlock

@trix1881  Provided you’ve paid off the contract you can get the device unlock.  EE can not make you wait 6 months as you e now paid all that you owe on this.

Re: Device unlock

You would think this however they tell me I have to wait 6 months as even though I have paid it off they still own it although I am out of contract and it’s paid hence why i am literally prepared to take legal action against ee

Re: Device unlock

They are probably going by the IMEI which states when it was purchased.

They probably haven't come acrossthis situation before. I don't know anyone who can afford to get a contract and then cancel before 6 months it would ahve been cheaper to buy the handset direct from manufacturer.

@trix1881: Who or what tells you this? Was it the online unlocking form?
