Can I unlock a previous contract phone for a relative to use?

I want to give a relative a phone which I previously owned. It’s locked to EE but she wants to use a different network. The phone is approximately 4 years old.  Can this be done without incurring a charge?

@mclachlan624   you mostly certainly can  and there will be no charge. 

 

click the green wording below to see how to request the unlock of your device make sure you select the option to manually type in the IMEI number of the device you want to unlock.
