10 days to unlock iPhone 6?

Hi guys,

i’m new to this forum and just wondering why it takes so long to unlock my old iPhone 6 from EE?

I work abroad quite a bit and often have to buy a local SIM card for the country that I’m working in when away. Last time I unlocked an iPhone it was an iPhone5 with o2 in 2015 and they were able to do it pretty much instantly....just saying!!

That old iphone5 was scrapped a while ago and I was due an upgrade with EE so I thought i’d unlock my old 6 thinking it would be done quickly (even though I read the 10 day thing), filled out the form online, entered the IMEI code, and now find myself in Saudi Arabia probably having to wait another week maybe before I can put a local SIM card into my old handset....crikey!!

FYI, I’m still on a pay monthly EE contract, upgraded last month and my previous contract was taken out in September 2015 so the 2 years has passed so I just missed out on the auto unlock which would have made things much easier.

anyway, what I want to know is how can I get this unlock pushed through quickly so I can use a local SIM card as soon as possible.

thanks in advance for your reply,

Brian

Re: 10 days to unlock iPhone 6?

No there is no way to speed things up.

It doesn't matter if you are a customer or not.

It isn't as simple as ask for unlock and it happens.

They have to send the request off to Apple then it goes back to EE.

10 days is the standard timeframe regardless if you have an iPhone or any other phone.

It could be sooner but I doubt that.

Is there any way of speeding up the process? Even a “premium” option? 10 days seems a bit extreme when i’m still an EE customer, and just wanting to use my old handset for a foreign SIM card when abroad

Re: 10 days to unlock iPhone 6?

Ok, it seems o2 have a more efficient way of doing things. Unfortunately I get called away with very little notice so I may hope for a speedy turnaround. Thanks for your assistance Brendon

Hi @Dangerousbrian

Welcome to the community. 🙂

As mentioned above, the standard EE unlock time frame is 'up to' 10 days. Fingers crossed it's done sooner for you.

The unlocking team will send you a text/email when it is completed so keep an eye on your inbox.
