Taking 10 texts out of my quota

Hi, I’ve just noticed that when I send a message from my iPad via my iPhone on iOS 12 (continuity?) it takes 10 txt credits to do it, then I sent an answer on my phone and it took 3 txt to send one to an android, I think on vodaphone, has anyone come across this recently? Bit puzzling unless I am missing something.. and I think it’s just started doing this.. curiousier and curiouser it only happens on one particular number.. as I’ve just tried some family numbers and they only take 1 txt..

Re: Taking 10 texts out of my quota

The limit for 1 text is 160 chars. incl. spaces. Your 1st text must have been over about 1500 chars & the 2nd over about 300.

Re: Taking 10 texts out of my quota

Thx, I hadn’t thought about that as I mainly txt other iPhones so use iMessage. The first message was 287 characters and second 162! So not quite the answer I was looking for but I’m seeing the person tomorrow so I’ll test a one one txt..

Re: Taking 10 texts out of my quota

Your texts certainly would have gone piece-meal.
