Reordering PAYG sim

Hi! Can anyone please tell me whether it's possible to reorder a PAYG sim card that would have my old number? And if it is, how do I go about ordering one? Been using the same number for 6+ years so it would be a real shame to have to change it. 

I don't need to report my sim as stolen as it got lost somewhere in the house; however, considering how tiny it is, I don't think I'll be able to find it.

Take phone into an EE shop with Photo ID & they'll supply a replacement SIM of correct size with same number, any SIM contacts & credit if applicable for free or phone CS for one for £1.50.

Hi James, it would definitely still be active, I've lost my sim less than a day ago and before then I was using it every day.

Thank you, it definitely helps a lot! Just to confirm that this applies to PAYG sims as well? I remember reading the same advice before but someone argued this option is only available if you have a phone contract?
