Non UK SIM Card

I have successfully unlocked my old iPhone, and I want to use it with a non-UK SIM Card (Irish for now, but possibly other EU countries in the future). I am in the UK now, and the SIM works fine in its original non-smart handset, but when I put it in the iPhone, I get "No Service" - it won't connect to any carrier in the UK.  Does the SIM need to 'recognise' the iPhone with its own Irish carrier first, before it will roam with the iPhone?

Re: Non UK SIM Card

It should not matter what phone the SIM is in as long as its unlocked. If it works in 1 unlocked phone it should work in another. Sounds like the iPhone is still locked to EE. Who unlocked it for you?

Re: Non UK SIM Card

That's what I thought should happen also.

I unlocked it via the EE website and got the email to confirm that it is unlocked.

Good Morning @iloathee.

I'd recommend contacting our Mobile Care team so they can check to see if the phone is unlocked.

Did you follow the instructions in the email to complete the unlock?
