I bought a new PAYG Sim in spring 2018 in London from a corner shop and haven't checked it. Now I am abroad (out of EU) and would like to use it. I've inserted it into my phone, the phone has recognised the number but there is no network.
Please let me know if there is a simple way to check if it has expired or not.
And how to top-up it from abroad to make it work if it hasn't expired.

EE PAYG SIMs are deactivated after 6 months of non-use. You then have a further 3 months to call EE to reactivate it before it is lost completely.

Thank you for your answer.
I am not sure that it has been deactivated. How can I check it from abroad without calling to EE which will cost me a fortune for no good reason if sim is totally out of date.
Is there any EE service available online for checking sim by number?

@EvaVO, You would have had to activate it for it to work, so posssibly if you did not do so, that is why it is not working, and has already been mentioned, after 6 months of no use, it would be in hibernation, but from what I understand, you did not activate it, and that is why it would not work anyway.

Thank you for your message.
What kind of activation it needed other than being inserted into the gadget?
There is nothing on the package about the neccessaty of activation within the UK only.
Do you know how to check online if the sim has been disactivated?
