Can't send or receive texts

So I'm an international student.  I got this EE SIM in the mail while I was still at home and popped it in yesterday. I have the £15 international pack with 500 texts in the UK and EU and still somehow I can't text my mom on her Romanian number and she can't text me either. Calls are fine though, as I called her yesterday so she could save this number. If it's relevant at all, this phone is a Sony Xperia Z5.

Do any of you know what's going on? Thank you.

I can't text anyone,  my mom was just an example.

The reply: Your current balance as of today 09:19 is £0.00. You have 500 texts, 3.0GB, unlimited texts, unlimited minutes and 249 minutes remaining until 19/10/2017 for your £15 International Pack.
You have 9.8GB remaining until 18/10/2017 for your 10GB Free for 30 days. Your unlimited texts and minutes are to EE numbers only. Your last top up was £15.00 on 18/09/2017 at 19:42. Also, my account page says the texts are UK/EU texts so I don't see why this wouldn't work.

Are you in Europe or the UK?

 

The text messages for EU is for when you are within Europe, you would be charged for any texts sent to an international number whilst in the UK.

 

The international SIM you have includes calls from the UK to 34 countries>

Okay. I'm in the UK so that's why. It's a little absurd and I don't recall
reading that anywhere but alas. Why can't I RECEIVE anything though? My mom
sent me a message and it appears as sent to her, but never made it to me.
The number is right though, she's called me on it.
Bonus question. Is there any way that I can get a package that lets me text
my mom as part of it as opposed to for extra credit?

The texts would be 10p each.

 

If you can get in touch with our customer service team we will be able to look into why you are not receiving these texts.

The Pay as you go option is not available in the tech supoort chat, which
is annoying because why is it there then. I literally have no other way to
do this right now I'll just drop the sim

The chat team are unable to look into pay as you go accounts.

 

You would need to call us, you can do this from an alternative line.
