I have bought 2 mobiwire koi’s for our 8yr old twins. The sim is working in one but the other just says invalid sim.
It’s their birthday today so any help getting this fixed quickly appreciated!
I haven’t used payg for years and am not on EE myself.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Apparently the sim hasn’t been activated. Where they are both brand new with the sims in the box I assumed no unlocking would be needed..
This is that moment I regret the spontaneous purchase and wish I’d just added a couple of cheapies to my current contract but I want the boys to learn some responsibility for themselves!

@Bingowings The one that says sim is invalid is locked to a different network. It’ll need to be unlocked from that network to work on the EE network.

Even though it came in EE packaging as a brand new sim? That’s crazy!

@Bingowings I'm sure that @Chris_B meant that one of the koi's is locked and needs to be unlocked.

Have you put the working SIM in the other phone? What happens then?

Yes. Same problem.
Support said that the sim isn’t activated so I have to visit the EE store

Thanks for the link! Support said that the sim hasn’t been activated so off to the store I go!

Sorry, I'm not sure I understand.
If the working SIM placed in the other phone still says invalid SIM, it's not a problem with activating the SIM, as the SIM works in the other phone. It means it's a handset problem and it sounds like it's locked.

I swapped the sims over and the invalid sim is still invalid and the other fine so not a phone issue. They are brand new phones locked to EE with 2 brand new EE sims

@Bingowings it seems you've solved your issue. Mark your own post as Solution or else mark @chistery post as Solution. Now you've got an unwanted extra trip to an EE Shop ahead of you if you want the SIM working today. I hope they'll pay your bus fayre or parking fee. It's a hot day and you must be annoyed. I would be. Good luck!

Glad we all managed to get to the bottom of it!

The problem was the sim not activated or a dud sim. My solution as I needed it sorting today and after an unsuccessful trip to the shop, was to nip to asda and get 2 of their sims...which worked first time.
A tad drastic but I just didn’t have the time!
