Why do I not receive texts or calls when abroad with the data turned off?

Whilst abroad I have turned data off on my Samsung S7 Galaxy but not receiving texts or calls. Can you please help? I don't want to turn the data on as I now live in Germany and use WiFi for data.

Texts and calls don't use data. So it doesn't matter to them whether data is on or not.

Hi @JamesGodfrey1,

Welcome to the EE Community.

You may need to activate roaming on your account.

Have you used your phone successfully abroad before?

Thanks

James
