What did our Mobile Care team say when you contacted them?
Did they give you some options on how to get some data?

They told me was not possible for me to add data roaming in South East Asia under any circumstances on my package despite paying for 100gb in EU usage. Unbelievable and my first and last contract with EE.

Maybe they just meant that you can't include it in your plan ongoingly but you can buy add-ons as & when you roam.

As I said EE have told me my plan is not eligible to add on data in this region but if I had a different (cheaper plan) I could. I wish someone from EE officially could explain to you all (and me) why the shoddy service.

No to be clear I tried to buy the TRAVEL MAX plan afforded to cheaper plans but for mine not possible. I should have stayed with a more professional service such as Vodafone, O2 and in fact all the other companies I’ve had contracts with in the past. This is the most expensive (by a long way) but most useless contract I’ve had the misfortune to be missold by a company.

No they are unable to do so. Mickey Mouse telecom company who sold me the most expensive but useless contract I’ve ever had the misfortune to be missold. Wish I’d stuck with Vodafone or O2.

Hi Jon, as I already explained I am not trying to use my bundled data as I know it will not be used when roaming here. I am trying to add on the £6 per day 500mb bolt on but it is not possible according to EE. I wish an EE specialist read these comments as you are only stating what we both agree should be possible! Dreadful service.

I was not advised of any spend cap, are you suggesting this is the issue? And if so why is there a spend cap that prohibits purchasing of bolt ins when I have such an expensive fixed price plan?

If you joined EE or upgraded after the 1st October 2018, you would have been offered to add a spend cap onto your account. You could also choose to opt out if you didn't want any restriction on your account.
We don't have any account access here on the community so we are unable to see why you are unable to add the additional bundle you want to your plan although you should be able to.
Our mobile care team will be the best people to speak to. They will be able to tell you why you are unable to add the bundle you need while you are traveling. If you have a spend cap on your account, they will also be able to manage this with you if you would like to change/remove it.

I don’t have a spend cap. The specific wording of the text messages is:
Sorry, Travel Data Pass is not available on your price plan. You can find details of all our standard roaming add-ons and prices at ee.co.uk/roamingcosts

I would suggest you speak to our tech gurus about your account.
They can see your account and will be able to advise why this add on is not being accepted on your account.
You can use our live chat service if this is easier.
Let me know how you get on once you have spoken to them

All I can add is I spoke to them at length (and no little cost out here) to be told their was no solution and my contract could NOT add a bolt on due to its type. It has cost me a fortune as I’ve had to rely on conventional calls, texts etc. rather than methods relying on data comms (Skype, FaceTime, WhatsApp, Line etc) and checking my account shows a shocking £252 bill to date. This is despite my £86 monthly contract. Disgusting.
