I'm beyond frustrated having contacted EE
They suggested MAX PLAN and assured me it would work. My settings are all good to go but have only managed a few calls and no internet at all.

There has been some confusion with the Max Plans, could you confirm when you moved onto the Max Plan?

It was two or three months ago after being informed it would be the best package to enable me to keep in touch with ill elderly parents
I rang before leaving to confirm and it was agreed that I could indeed use internet and make calls as part of the package.
I rang support on arriving in America and was informed some settings had to be adjusted.
This didn't seem to do anything.
