@JanisT  The moment you get to another country and start using data it will start.   You might of received an email and that’s enough to start the add on.

But I’ve only accessed data using Wi-fi - not general roaming - so am puzzled. Shouldn’t have activated on that basis?

Yes, data switched off before departure from Uk. I have an I-phone 7.

Do you have WiFi assist turned on in your settings?

 

Go to Settings > Mobile Data > WiFi Assist.

If you know you won't need data, you could remove the add on from the app?

Thanks for this, and that was the first thing I did when I saw the charges, although for some reason it takes a month for it to go. Just hope I’m not getting charged for something I’m not using!
