When will my Roaming be active for Canada?

I upgraded my phone yesterday, just waiting to hopefully receive it before I go to Canada on Friday!

My question is that I've gone on to one of the new 4GEE Max plans, and I was hoping I'd be able to use my minutes and texts etc when I'm away to keep in touch with family. My billing cycle is the 29th of the month, so when will I be able to use my new plan? Will it change over automatically (I didn't need a new sim card) or will I have to recieve and activate my new phone before it kicks in?

I used to work for the company so really I should know this, but it's been a few years!
