However as i an in india with no sim i have no way of contacting EE. Does anyone know how i can get this phone to work so i can use it as i am rather lost whenever i leave places with wifi.

Re: Using my phone in India

Did you buy this device yourself new direct from EE or is it 2nd-hand? The process & costs are different.

If you bought it direct from EE there's an online form you can use to unlock it.

Re: Using my phone in India

I bought it second hand unlocked from Environfone, it is not meant to be locked so I shouldn't have to pay to use it with other providers. Do you know if it's definitely my blocked by EE and not my phone.

Thanks for your response

Re: Using my phone in India

It's not EE's concern that it was not unlocked when you bought from a 2nd-hand seller. EE will still charge to get it unlocked.

To unlock a 2nd-hand phone you need to call Customer Services on +44 800 956 6000 (option 2, option 4) to put you in touch with the Unlocking Team to request an Unlock Code. You will be asked for your email addy. They will take payment (of £8.99) from any valid UK bank card.

Once the process has been started you will receive an email from the Unlocking Team to process the unlock. It can take up to 10 days to complete the unlock.

But even so beware that EE could still refuse to unlock it. Many phones sold 2nd-hand have been reported lost or stolen, have been sold by the original owner when under 6 months old without EE's permission or have money owing on them.

If that is the case your only remedy is against whoever you got the phone from.

Hi @TheoWindred

Welcome to the community.

I see @XRaySpeX has given you some fantastic advice here already.

The only other alternative is to contact the seller, if they told you that it was unlocked.
