Using data package in Spain

I have £25 package including 5gb data. Arrived in Spain and data's not working. Had same problem in France 2 weeks ago. Took phone to EE shop in UK and they checked everything was switched on as it should be - data roaming is on. So what's the problem? The only EU place where it's worked was Latvia last month.

Re: Using data package in Spain

Hi @Goffin,

The 3 mobile apps would stay on the device as they are built into the software, if apps are on memory card they may be able to be retrieved via a file manager app which tends to be included on many Android devices.

For contacts please see below:

Find "Contacts"

  • Tap the menu icon.
  • Tap Contacts.

Choose option

  • Choose one of the following options:
  • Copy contacts from your SIM to the phone memory, go to 2a.
  • Copy contacts from the phone memory to your SIM, go to 2b.

2a - Copy contacts from your SIM to the phone memory

  • Tap the menu icon.
  • Tap Import contacts.
  • Tap SIM card.
  • Tap Local contact.
  • Tap IMPORT ALL.
  • Wait a moment while the contacts are copied.

2b - Copy contacts from the phone memory to your SIM

  • Tap the menu icon.
  • Tap Export contacts.
  • Tap SIM card.
  • Tap MARK ALL.
  • Tap EXPORT.
  • Tap Add contacts or Replace all contacts.
  • If you select Replace all contacts:
  • Tap OK.

Return to the home screen

  • Tap the home icon to return to the home screen.

Hope this helps,

Lee

Re: Using data package in Spain

Hi @Goffin,

Welcome back to the EE Community.

Have you tried selecting a different network?

What happens when you try to load a webpage?

Thanks

Re: Using data package in Spain

Yes, tried other networks and no change. When I open the browser I get Can't connect to the Internet page. The only thing I've noticed is that it always chooses 3g network rather than 4, even when I select 4.

Hi @Goffin,

It might be worth backing up your phone and trying a factory reset in case it's a software issue.

Thanks

Re: Using data package in Spain

Thanks James,

I think that's probably the best idea, but I'd rather not do that while I'm away and risk losing other things. I'm not great at backing up. I'll have to just stick to free WiFi spots.

No problem @Goffin

Let me know if you need any help with backing up when you are ready.

Thanks

Re: Using data package in Spain

Actually James, maybe I'll try it. All my photos are on sd card. What else do I stand to lose? Can I copy Contacts to sd? All the apps will need to be downloaded again even if on sd, right? Will factory reset get rid of 3 mobile stuff? I bought this phone 2nd hand as my 'real' phone stopped charging after I dropped it. This summer has been bad for phones.
