I'm in Lanzarote and cannot make calls to UK landlines or mobiles, and they are prefixed with +44.
I have full signal and an R next to it. I can send and receive texts no problem, and use data on the internet. I've checked all my call barring settings and none are activated. I have an Huawei mate p20.
Also my automatic time zone is consistently 1 hour ahead of BST despite the fact that Lanzarote time zone is identical to the UK.
Any ideas please?

Thanks for the reply Peter.
Yes I think so....I had a missed call from a UK mobile number at least.
I even had a text off ee when I landed saying that all calls and texts are included within the EU roaming. Seems like outgoing calls are the only problem I have here apart from a wrong clock!

If on contract, try logging into your My EE account online & go to Menu / Manage Device / Roaming Abroad and also Call Abroad and Premium rate. They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated. If they are not ticked, can you activate these settings?

That could be it x-ray.
Call abroad and premium was not ticked so I've done so now. It then said it can take up to 24 hours to take effect, so I'll wait and see what happens.
When you look at the details for this option it says it's for calling numbers from abroad whilst in the UK, but I'm guessing this has something to do with this problem.
Many thanks for all your help

Can you try restarting the device?
Also, can you try doing a manual network search in your device settings and selecting a different network.
iPhone – Settings > Mobile Data > Network Selection > Turn off Automatic
Android – Settings > More Networks > Mobile Networks > Network Operators > Tap OK
Windows – Settings > Mobile Network > Network Selection > Tap on start manual search

Already tried that a couple of days ago. Initially was on movistar ee on landing but when I noticed I couldn't make calls I manually changed it to orange. Tried rebooting also without success.
Thanks again Leanne

Ok many thanks Leanne. I'll be coming back home Sunday but at least I should be ok for next year! Roll on Cyprus. 😄

Alexandra rang me and activated the calls to abroad feature of my account which I'd activated this morning, but she couldn't get it to register there and then as it normally should. However it did say to her to allow up to 24 hours as it did to me in the morning when I tried. I tried calling out again just now all seems to be ok! 🙂
I'm still not sure why my phone thinks Lanzarote is 1 hour ahead of BST tho!
Big thanks to you Leanne and Alexandra for all your help. Greatly appreciated.
