The new EU Free Roaming from 15 June

Re the new EU Free Roaming, will I be able to use ALL my current 2GB data allowance while in Spain, plus all the current unlimited calls and texts?

Hello @FredPayne

Thank you for taking the time to visit the Community. Smiley Happy

That's correct. As of the 15th June 2017, you will be able to use your unlimited minutes, unlimited text messages and all of your 2GB data allowance when roaming in Europe.

If you use all of your 2GB data allowance, you will be prompted to buy more data which can be used in the U.K. and within Europe.

Thanks Inyourbox - I was given wrong info before, told I could only use up to 500mb in EU Roaming from 15 June.

When I get to EU, should I turn on Roaming only when I need to use it? I'm concerned that with only 2GB to start with, my Iphone will decide to download updates or something and use up my allowance.

Hi @FredPayne

@Inyourbox is certainly correct, all your data allowance can be used.

I would recommend turning off the data to the apps that you are not using.

Many thanks,

Thanks Lee_H

How do I turn off roaming to selected apps? Or can I turn it on only for things I will use such as Google maps, email etc? How do I go about turning off roaming for selected apps? Sorry, I'm really not up to speed on the use of my phone.

Hi @FredPayne

Please follow my little guide below:

  1. Go the Settings app from your Home screen.
  2. Tap Mobile Data.
  3. Scroll to the bottom until you start to see an apps list.

  4. Tap the switch next to each app for which you'd like to turn off mobile data usage.

Hope this helps,

Lee
