Redirect codes while roaming

I need to configure some redirects (when unrechable), which I routinely do when in uk. 

 

Specifically the MMI / GSM code I use is *62*redirect number# 

 

This has worked from other networks before. 

 

I am now out of the UK for a few months, not in the EU, hence need to redirect to my office to handle my biz calls. This was all discussed with an agent when choosing my monthly biz plan recently and part of why I upgraded. 

When I key in the GSM redirect code I get 

<sending MMI code>

<Call forwarding

Connection problem or invalid MMI code

when not reachable for All Basic Services>

 

I have tried using both +44 UK number and merely UK number. 

What is wrong / why is this functionality not operating as normal.

@Phat_Phreddy  Is roaming even enable on your account? If it’s not your texts will not go through if your out of the UK.

Yes roaming is enabled.. I can call and send and recieve SMS text. 

 

I think these GSM codes are different to SMS though.. Used them on other networks roaming plenty of times before

You can't use GSM codes while roaming unfortunately.

Thats not what first line and 2nd level tech support were telling me to try.. Over and over.. code after code.. Then wifi calling systems after wifi calling.. 

 

Ended up spending 2 hours on chat.. and still they cant solve it and dont know why.. 

 

Its been 'escalated'...

Thanks.. As mentioned I spent 2 hours with a tech support person yesterday who was absolutely baffled.. What should work, what was working, what wasnt working made no sense. 

 

He said another 2nd line tech support would contact me.. He also said I would be emailed a transcript of the chat.. Neither thing happened so far. 

 

We put my sim back into my PixelXL as that supports wifi calling, and could enable redirects (but the phone reports no directs enabled when giving status report even though it worked) but couldnt clear redirects, when cleared the phone wouldnt ring and it wouldnt redirect, said 'the phone is currently unreachable' despite the phone apparently roaming fine and making outgoing calls. 

Currently my EE line inbound is borked.. So we enabled redirect to my UK office line as a emergency method but clearly thats not a solution.

WiFi calling will not work overseas, so this may be causing you issues.

well wifi calling menus redirect was what the tech guy told me to try.. and was the only way we could get a redirect started (still can).. We just cannot stop a redirect.. 

 

Basically I did what chat techs told me to, including the *61* type codes and it broke my EE line.. Now I have a phone that cant recieve calls and tech couldnt fix it or had any idea why it wouldnt.

4th day without a functioning phone line.. 

 

Still no email contact by second line tech support as assured. 

Still no email transcript of the 2 hour chat on Saturday where the tech made my line non functional. 

 

I assume the bills for the time its non functional will arrive perfectly on time ??

Have you spoken to tech chat again at all?

 

When you ended the chat did you request the transcript to be sent?

No.. I was assured it was referred up to higher level tech as that one couldnt work out why it was doing what it was doing... Who would email me to continue.. No one has. 

 

I was assured I would be emailed a transcript.. One has not come.. 

 

Day 5 not working.
