PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

I have some questions with regards to PAYG 4GEE Data SIM Cards on Roaming I picked up from an EE store yesterday.

I leave for Europe on Friday and I have a Data SIM card in my MiFi. Roaming is turned on for the device.

I have topped up with £25 in order to buy a 10GB package for £22 which is valid for 30 days.

Can you confirm that I will be able to use the full package abroad straight away, even though I will have only used it in the UK for a couple of days before I leave?

Can you confirm the maximum time abroad with this SIM is 30 days?

Thanks

JB

Re: PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

Well found :)!

It already says it. It's 60 days in any 120 day period, not 60 days in UK before you go abroad.

Re: PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

Yes, you well be able to use your UK data allowance in EU straight away, just like you are in UK.

There is no max. period abroad for PAYG.

Re: PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

Hello,

Thank you for your reply.

Could you point me in the direction of EE T&C's or equivalent to back this up?

I've now been told 3 variations by store staff, Live Chat and yourself and so I would feel more comfortable seeing it in writing from an EE site / PDF document.

Re: PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

Have a look at Roaming under PAYG.

Re: PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

After a bit more searching, I have partly answered my own question:

http://ee.co.uk/content/dam/ee-help/help-pdfs/roaming-for-payg-customers-20170615.pdf

"Our PAYG service is intended for customers with a stable link to the UK who travel abroad periodically. It is not intended for customers roaming on a permanent or semi-permanent basis. We will consider you have a stable link to the UK if spend a total of 60 days or more during any 120 day period within the UK"

So there is, in fact, a 60 day limitation on PAYG SIM cards used abroad - not "no max. period".

The question remains that if I have not spent 60 days using the SIM in the UK prior to going abroad if it will work. If anyone from EE can provide confirmation, it would be appreciated.

Re: PAYG Data SIM & Roaming

Hi @JB220

As @XRaySpeX advised it's 60 days within a 120 day period, so you'll be absolutely fine using your SIM straight away in the EU.

You'll need to check that Roaming is active on the device by accessing the Connection Manager.

Enjoy your time in Europe.

Thanks - Karen. Smiley Happy
