Mifi roaming

I use a 4g mifi device for my home internet (on a boat, UK) am going on holiday to Republic of Ireland and am wondering if I can take the device and use my day there roaming without extra charges. The FAQs seem to suggest that, by want to be sure.

Re: Mifi roaming

Hi @maddietaylor87

You can use your data allowances in the EU with a fair usage policy of 15GB.

Please make sure your device is set up for roaming in your My EE account first.

Have a brilliant trip! 😄

Re: Mifi roaming

Thanks Chris! So I have 28GB left on my plan for this month and it looks like roaming is enabled. How does this fair use policy work? What happens if I went over 15? It's hard to keep track obviously – would I be charged and is there a way to set a limit so I wouldn't be charged by accident?

Thanks

Re: Mifi roaming

No problem, @maddietaylor87. 🙂

Please see this statement from the EE pay monthly terms and conditions:

Fair use amount

If your domestic data allowance is greater than 15GB, a fair usage policy of 15GB whilst roaming in our Europe will apply (i.e. you can use up to 15GB from your allowance while roaming).

Once you’ve used your fair use policy amount when roaming, we will notify you and surcharges will apply to continue using data when roaming in our Europe and Rest of World Zones.

The surcharges will last until you exhaust the remainder of your domestic data allowance, return to the UK, or until your next bill date (whichever is earlier).

• 1MB £0.0060 Note whilst the charge displayed above is per MB, EE charge on a per KB basis (i.e. 1KB = £0.0000060 or 0.00060p).

I recommend keeping an eye on how much you're using on the My EE account. Also, disconnect the WiFi after each use to conserve your data allowance.

Re: Mifi roaming

Hi Chris

I made sure I had the roaming box ticked, but I'm not managing to get WiFi
now I'm in Ireland.
My mifi device has connected to a network Andi's showing 4g and good
signal. It also shows a little '2' acknowledging that mine and my partner's
phones are connected. But neither phone is able to get internet, despite
being close by.

Are you able to suggest anything I haven't thought of? I've tried
restarting and resetting the mifi device already.

Thanks

Re: Mifi roaming

Hi @maddietaylor87

Have you been able to connect to the 4G WiFi since you left the UK?

Are you able to access your My EE account to check that you have data left on the account?

Are you able to do a manual network selection. Try to disconnect from the network and connect to a different one?

Re: Mifi roaming

Hi Alex.

I haven't been able to connect to this WiFi account since leaving the UK,
but have to other networks.

I even have another EE contract Sim.and that worked fine, but I only had
4GB and now that is all gone. I have plenty of data on my main mifi Sim.
The device has signal, devices connect but then there's no internet. It's
like it's blocked on my account, even though I enabled roaming.

Would you be able to check my account to see what's going on please?

Thanks
