Is it a pay monthly or pay as you go account you have with EE?
You don't need to let us know your going away, but you might need to change some settings on the phone if you have not used it abroad before.
If you have a pay monthly account, you can check to see if roaming has been activated on your account.
In your My EE account online go to Menu > Manage Device > Roaming Abroad and also Call Abroad and Premium rate> They will show as ticked if roaming and calling abroad is activated.
