Please try the troubleshooting below:-
Try re-booting your device
Try turning 4G off in ‘settings’
Perform a manual network search and selecting a different French network:-

Thank you for your advice, I managed to contact EE customer service via online chat with a service agent on my computer and he activated my international settings for me.
