I'm a PAYG customer, what do I need to do to use my phone abroad (EU country)

I have seen lots of answers about looking at my EE account and check roaming is switched on, but I can't see this at all when I log into my account. I will only need to make a couple of short phone calls and have more than £20 credit at the moment. Do I need to buy a pack of some sort before I go?

You don't need to do anything. PAYG SIMs are already activated for roaming. Hence you don't see anything about it in your MyEE.

Any pack you had in UK you can continue to use in the EU. Otherwise you can just make calls & texts from your credit. However if you want to go on the Net you will need a pack or add-on. You can't buy data from your credit.

Re: I'm a PAYG customer, what do I need to do to use my phone abroad (EU country

Thank you. Does that apply just to EU, or is worldwide roaming enabled? If it is supposed to be worldwide, then it must be something to do with the phone. I couldn't make / receive calls or texts in Japan last year or Costa Rica earlier this year. My husband also has EE but he has a contract, he had no problem in either place. We have identical i-phones. I only got mine last August when my old Orange Samsung android broke and I had to change to EE. No problem at all when I was with Orange, only since I have been with EE. I can use email and internet with hotel free wifi without any problem.

PAYG SIMs are activated for roaming worldwide but you can't use your UK allowances outside the EU.
