How to call a US number while roaming

I have a pay as you go sim on my unlocked Pixel. How do I dial a US number while roaming I'm Ireland? I have tried 001 and the +1 bit neither of them are successful.

Do you have credit on your phone? You need it at £1.20 / min to pay for these calls. They are not included in your allowances.

They are no use to you. Your allowances are not valid for calling outside EU. You need money to to make such calls
