Hi @rikkimcadam and welcome to the community.
So I can try and help, please may I get you to perform a manual network search and choose a network other than what you are on.
iPhone: Go to Settings > Carrier and turn off Automatic. Wait until available networks appear, which might take two minutes. Tap the carrier that you want.
Android: Open the Settings menu >Tap More > Mobile Networks > Carrier and turn off Automatic. Wait until available networks appear, which might take two minutes. Tap the carrier that you want.
Try then using data.
Did this work?

I think i have added the max travel plan...
i was able to go to each of those links where it said i was in australia then prompted me to buy data. but that shouldnt be so as it was confirmed by EE that its included in my plan

I can't see my reply, not sure what I've done.
Removing the maxtravel add-on would be a good step as a number of us have had this issue.
The reason I said to try neverssl.com was to see if it redirected you to the add-on page. If it does, it means the problem is your account, if it doesn't, it's likely to be your phone.

@chistery: Your post is 2nd in-line of this thread dated Yesterday & numbered post 1.
The Community lately has a nasty habit of backdating posts posted now to the past & the thread then files it chronologically, bar the OP itself. All v. confusing! Nowt seems to be being done about it, @Lee_H :(.
