Hi,

Only if you don't want to roam.

Are you trying to avoid additional costs?

Thanks

Re: Do I have to turn my roaming off when I go to New York

If you can get EE Travel Data Pass, you can get 4G data in NYC for £4 a day.

http://shop.ee.co.uk/international/travelling-abroad/travel-data-pass

Travel Data Pass is available to customers on selected EE Pay Monthly Regular, Extra, Essential and Sharer consumer plans. Travel Data Pass is not currently available to customers on 4GEE plans and Max Plans or mobile broadband/Mobile Wi-Fi plans.

If you don't have Travel Data Pass already on your account, or any additional add-ons for roaming, having roaming enabled won't do anything as you will be redicted to buy an add on when you try and use data. That said, if you don't want data, disable roaming
