Cannot connect to network in Colombia

I am having the same problem. My wife has connected on her IPhone. But I cannot on my Sony Xperia M2. I recently changed from monthly to PAYG, but I've had signal and network all over South America so far. Just won't work in Colombia.

No, we both recently moved to PAYG for a trip around the world for a year.

Please can I get you to do the following:

 

  • Manual network search- try and select the same one as your wife.
  1. From the home screen, tap the Apps icon.
  2. Tap Settings.
  3. Tap More....
  4. Tap Mobile networks.
  5. Tap Network operators.
  6. If prompted to temporarily disable mobile data, tap OK.
  7. Wait while the device search for available networks.
  8. Tap the required network.
  • Change to 2G/3G only
  1. On the homescreen, tap the Apps icon
  2. Tap Settings
  3. Tap More...
  4. Tap Mobile networks
  5. Tap Network Mode
  6. If you want to use 4G, make sure it's enabled. If you just want to connect to our 3G network, make sure that WCDMA (preferred)/GSM is enabled.

Hi, I've tried both already. It says I'm connected to Movistar 3G, and I have full bars. But when I try calling 150 it says mobile network not available. And I have a text message queued for 150.

No luck 😞

 

It says the same message. My wife also had problems when arriving in Colombia, but the normal tricks of changing to 2G etc. worked. Not for me though! 

 

I have enough credit and I have used my phone as set up currently in Argentina, Chile, Brazil and North America. Only when arriving in Colombia has it been an issue.

Just a quick one, can I get you to try your SIM in your wife's phone and vice versa.

 

It may sound trivial but just to rule something out.

Hi, we've got different sized sims! 😞

 

I have tried mine in a spare phone I have. But it's the old version of my current Xperia M2. So I don't know of that answers your question?

Sorry to hear it's still not working.

 

We've tried all the steps we could try on the community.

 

One last thing I've just though of - have you tried turning all your data services off?

 

If still nothing after this it would need to be looked out by contacting customer services and speaking to the technical department.
