First time using my EE max plan when I go to USA next week. I don’t want any nasty charges so want to understand it correctly.
can I make calls to USA numbers for free using my plan?
What things cant I go that I’d be charged for?

Hi @Hayleyp91 Welcome to the community.
If you are on a new MAX plan, you can call and text USA landlines and mobiles whilst in the USA and it will come out of your allowance. You can also call or text EU and UK numbers and it will come out of your allowance.
Check roaming is enabled now though, text ROAMING to 150 today to check.
You will be charged for calls and texts outside of the EE Europe Zone, and additional max plan countries.
If you have over 15GB data allowance and you try and go over that in your billing month you will need to start paying for data.
Enjoy your trip! Any other questions, ask away!

Thank you for replying! I’m not currently on max plan but it’s switching over to a max plan the day I travel to the USA, so should I wait until that morning to check that roaming is activated?
thats good to know I can call USA landlines and send texts to USA mobiles out of my allowance. I only have 8GB of data anyway is there a cap on unlimited calls and texts?

I'd check now, it won't do any harm. Leave it to the last minute and something may come up, so best be prepared. It's a free text to tell you if it's enabled or not anyway.
If you have unlimited calls and texts, there's no limits, but there is a maximum call duration of 120 minutes. So you need to redial if you're that chatty!

I’ve just text to see and had this back
We've been unable to complete your request at this time.To get set up, dial 150 from your handset and go to the roaming menu.
What does this mean?

It sounds like roaming may not be active. I'd call 150 and speak to EE when you have a moment. I just tried it and I get a text saying roaming is enabled. When it's set up, you should get a reply like this.
Good news, your phone is already set up to use abroad - just
restart your phone when you arrive and you should be good to go. You
can find details of all our roaming add-ons and prices at

@Hayleyp91 I assume you are on a pay monthly plan now so you can ask for roaming to be enabled now and it will stay enabled on your account.
It's possible EE may ask for a deposit depending on how long you have held your account or have some other issues, so it is best to do this now and not wait just in case. Usually it's fine, but better to sort it now.
