Hello and welcome.

You should be able to get 4G in France no issue. Which networks have you tried to roam on?

I’m pretty sure since landing at dieppe and then travelling south I have only seen either 3G or Edge.

All 4. SFR, Orange, Bouyges and Free. When you do a manual search should you be able to see the name of the carrier along with a 3G and a 4G option?

Yes 4G for data and voice is turned on.

Go into manual and select Orange 4G. If it puts you on 3G, select Orange 4G again. If it's not on Orange 4G after about 5 times, try Bouygues. If that doesn't work then don't really know as they Orange especially should work.

There is only the list of the 4 French networks. There is no Orange 4G or Orange 3G listed just Orange. And it is the same for the other 3 carriers. Just the carrier name.

Hi @jimmijo.

Is there anyone else with you who is on EE and having the same issue?

Have you been able to connect to Orange in other locations?

Re: Are we no longer allowed to access 4g in France? Can only get 3G.

You should have access to Orange 4G, Bouygues 4G, and Free 3G. Is 4G available where you are?

Orange coverage checker: https://reseaux.orange.fr/cartes-de-couverture/mobile-3G-4G

Bouygues coverage checker: https://www.bouyguestelecom.fr/reseau/cartes-de-couverture-reseau-mobile

Try selecting Orange and leaving it idle for a few minutes (as in, don't do anything that uses data). If that doesn't work try turning flight mode on, waiting 10 seconds, and turning it off and wait a few minutes. If that doesn't work try a phone reboot and wait a few minutes.

Do you have another device you can try?

I hope one of those things sorts it lol, good luck 🙂

@jimmijo. Have you restarted the device since arriving there ?

Re: Are we no longer allowed to access 4g in France? Can only get 3G.

Thanks to everyone for your advice. I have just spoken to EE and have been told that 4G is not guaranteed, even where available, in France and it’s down to the local operators. So effectively EE no longer offer 4G in France. Nowt wrong with 3G. But even that’s slow. Last time I was in France I had 4G. I moved from Three to EE to get better service when abroad. Guess I’ll have to find a different operator, Again!

Hi @jimmijo.

Thanks for getting back to us.

Hopefully the 4G service returns soon for you, it's possible that the local network is having trouble.
