Trying to upgrade my EE contract but unless your upgrading through EE directly you can't transfer your number over (WTF!?) But anyway, I was wondering if I can transfer my EE contract number to an 02 pay as you go sim card? And then once I've got my new contact on my new phone, transfer the 02 pay as you go number to the new EE phone? Hope this makes sense, it's early and I'm not being forced into a ridiculously expensive contact with EE just to keep the number that I've had since before EE existed.

Yes, you can port your number to an intermediate provider before porting back.
As Leanne says, some third party resellers will let you insert your existing EE number and migrate it. (Although I've never tested this)

@UkMissB Your not upgrading your taking out a new contract. If you upgrade you retain your number.

I've spoken to your upgrade team, they couldn't match the deal I've find online and said I couldn't keep my number if I wanted to transfer it to a new EE contract, hence the long winded way of keeping my number.
All I want to know is if I do it the long winded way can I keep my mobile number?

Yes it will work I would take out the additional line before porting your number O2 otherwise you will need a new EE account.
