Number didn't transfer, just disappeared

I ordered a new pay monthly SIM, from being a payg customer, and checked the I want to keep my number box.

I have now got the new sim and not only has the number not transfered, my first sim has a different number now.

Does it just take time for the number to transfer? Am confused

The number should transfer within 24 hours. What kind of phone are you using the SIM in? Have you tried restarting your phone?

The phone is a OnePlus 5T, and I have tried restarting it, yes.

It also still shows my payg info on my ee too, but I've had texts confirming the new pay monthly contract.

Is it 24 hours for when I receive the SIM or from when I put the SIM on a phone?
