free sim phone

Hi, I've got a Free Sim phone from Argos and EE Flex 2GB Sim. Could you please tell me if once I have registered it, will my phone be locked with EE and in the future will I have to pay £8.9 to use another network? thanks

Re: free sim phone

Which phone is it? All phones from Argos are SIM-Free & except possibly iPhones will stay unlocked once they are activated,

Re: free sim phone

My phone is sim free moto e5 and I have EE Flex Sim (not activated) but I found in Argos Questions and Answes information "this phone isn't locked to a network until a SIM card is registered with the phone. Once the phone is registered to the SIM card it will be locked to that SIM cards network. "

So my phone will not be locked to EE once I registed EE Flex Sim?

Re: free sim phone

That's not what Argos's Q&A says but I don't believe it to be true for Android phones, only for iPhones.

Please provide link to that Argos statement. I can't find it.

Re: free sim phone

Ah, OK, it was the Q&A with your particular product.

That statement is untrue. It will not lock to the network of the 1st SIM used. Other Argus Motorolas say they don't. Only SIM-Free iPhones do that.

I have bought SIM-Free Samsungs on Amazon & they never lock. I swap between diff network SIMs w/out trouble.

You could phone Argos to check it out. Perhaps others here will confirm?

Re: free sim phone

Hi @Jea

Welcome to the community. 🙂

I'd recommend asking Argos to clarify that. I believe it is only Apple products that auto-lock to the network of the SIM card first used.

@XRaySpeX - Only pay as you go phones purchased directly from EE can be unlocked free of charge.
