Travelling overseas for a few months. Top up query

Hi all - hope someone can answer.

I have PAYG SIM and I shall be travelling overseas to the Far East for a few months.

Can anyone categorically confirm the maximum period the phone can be inactive before I have to top up or make a call in order to retain my number and not lose it.

TIA.

Re: Travelling overseas for a few months. Top up query

Hi @BOC1789

Thanks for coming back. 🙂

If you have had no chargeable activity on your account within 120 days we’ll contact you by text to make sure you’re still using the SIM card and you’d like to keep the account active.

If you haven’t used your phone for any chargeable activity for 179 days your account will go into hibernation and any credit will be removed, but don’t worry; at this point it’s not too late to reinstate your number and credit – just call 150.

Find more information on pay as you go hibernation >

Have an amazing trip, if I don't speak to you beforehand. 😄

Re: Travelling overseas for a few months. Top up query

Hi Chris

Thanks for the confirmation.

With PAYG, I'm not sure I will be able to receive texts in the Far East.

Also not be able to call 150 either.

Am I wrong?

No worries, @BOC1789.

You can see the costs for India on our roaming tool. Make sure your select EE pay as you go for the relevant information.

Calls to 150 from India will be charged at the standard roaming rate.

Check out our handy roaming page for tips on what to do to save money while you're travelling and what you need to do before you go.

Thanks Chris
Just one more query going back to your previous statement - extract: ...any
credit will be removed, but don’t worry; at this point it’s not too late to
reinstate your number and credit – just call 150.
If my credit has been removed, I will not be able to call 150 on PAY will I?

No problem, @BOC1789.

Very good point. You will not be able call 150 from the SIM card (as it will be in hibernation anyway).

You can call 150 from another EE phone or find our other contact details on the get in touch section of our website.

The main point of the text is that we will contact you by text to let you know what will happen. 🙂
