I have been trying to top up over the past couple of days and it keeps showing an error. Although the top up has failed it's been debited from the account of the card I've used.

Hi, I had this same problem last month. Only I got charged twice on my debit card. I managed to speak to someone on live chat about this and with all the information I gave him e.g. Time of top up, how much, date etc, he confirmed their was a problem at the time of topping up.
He managed to rectify the problem and within minutes of confirming my information he topped up my account and my debit card was reimbursed within 5 days.
I had this same problem again last night, but can't get on live chat. You need to ring EE directly to deal with the issue.

Live chat is only for pay monthly customers.
Give a call on 150 they can check for you.
Hope this will resolve soon.
