Hello, what are requirements for the payg account to be eligible for a handset upgrade? Age of the account or the time that has passed from the latest topup? I have recently transferred a number to my EE payg account, would the upgrade eligibility be resetted to a fresh start because of the transfer?

Nowt to do with it as far as I know. You simply need to pass a credit check.

I read it you wanted to switch from PAYG to a new phone contract with EE. What exactly are you trying do?
You can buy a new phone from somewhere else & just stick your EE PAYG SIM in it.EE don't care what device you put it in.

There's no such thing as a PAYG upgrade. You just buy a handset & put your existing PAYG SIM in it. If it doesn't fit you can take new phone & old SIM into an EE shop & they'll transfer number, any SIM contacts & credit if applicable to a replacement SIM of correct size for free or order a replacement SIM online at https://explore.ee.co.uk/Order-a-new-SIM for £1.50.

Ah, by PAYG Upgrade CPW means it will sell you a SIM-less phone so you put your own existing SIM in it. If you compare them with the same PAYG New phones you will see they don't include the "Plus £10.00 Top-up".
This is specific to CPW & as far as I know EE don't operate this. Any rules will be CPW's but I can't see that they will care about how long you've had your existing phone or when you last topped-up. They just wanna sell phones.

@David : So I see but EE doesn't. I just call it buying a SIM-Free phone outright. They needn't be destined for PAYG but could equally be for SIM-Only contracts.
