I'm on Orange PAYG. I've tried to send texts but they won't send. I get an error code: 69. I've never had this problem before. I can receive texts.
What does this mean?

Check that your carrier settings are up to date.
Not to sound like every technician ever, have you turned it off waited a few mins then turned it back on?
Is the text to someone inside or outside the UK it could be an issue with the area code (44+ for the UK for example)

I don't know what 'carrier settings' are, let alone know how to update them!
I have turned it off and on again, but I still can't send texts.
I've attempted to send texts to five different people in the UK.
I can send texts from an old Nokia phone which is also on Orange PAYG.

What device are you using? to send the 5 texts from.
Are you able to still call (this rules out it being a full service issue)
Do you have credit on the account?

By any chance are you trying to text short numbers? This sometimes can also be the issue.
Is it possible the sim card has been damaged (water or dropped etc)
Otherwise, I'm stumped haha sorry, my only suggestion would be to call EE/Orange tomorrow.

I have tried to send texts with around 100 characters, but they still won't send.
I haven't dropped the phone, or got it wet.
If it's still like it next weekend, I'll call them.
Thanks for your help.

Network is okay. I could send texts yesterday without any problems. This is the first time I've ever had a problem sending texts,

Sorry when I mean short numbers i mean short like EE 150 is a short number (but not an EE or network number) It would be something like a premium service.
Personally, if it hadn't been resolved by tomorrow afternoon I would probably contact Orange. You are paying for a service, it is only right that you receive that service. I don't think that's an unreasonable expectation. There doesn't seem any logical reason why it shouldn't be working.

I don't think they'll be able to help me. I have no confidence in them. I can use WhatsApp though, which is good.

Hello @A-n-d-r-e-w this has happened to me more than once in the past and it was due to network maintenance in the area. It did not affect all devices in the area just a few/certain ones.
It always seems to happen around this time late at night and should be back up by morning. Let us know how you get on. 🙂
