Received text about termination of EE account

My account has 3 telephone numbers - 1 for me and two for my sons. One of them got a text this morning saying "We failed to take your direct debit this month. To avoid termination of your EE account, visit eelogin-verify-ID.com to update your payment details". I was immediately suspicious as the direct debit has nothing to do with either of my sons. Checked my bank and direct debit went out absolutely fine. Typed link into a browser and looks just like the EE website but in unsecured and does not start with EE in the URL so pretty sure it is a phishing scam. Told my son to delete the text.

Re: Received text about termination of EE account

Hi there @cpsaint73

Thanks for coming here and letting us know.

If your son has still got the text message I'd recommend forwarding it on to the number 7726 so it can be investigated.

Our help page on How To Avoid And Prevent Spam, Phishing And Fraud has full information on what to do with texts and emails 🙂

Re: Received text about termination of EE account

Yes, that's a scam. That domain got up to look like EE was created last week in Hong Kong. Some browsers are already blocking it as suspicious.
