My EE network monitor

A couple of updates ago, the myEE app introduced a facility to log your location "when your connection fails", and report it back. It seems an excellent idea (think Voda may have had this for a while), so enabled it, disabled all the notifications so it just runs away in the background.. and thought nothing more of it.

Over the weekend I found myself travelling a stretch of road where EE has historically been "ok" but has suffered from handover failures, and 4G800 is now used in the area albeit not solving the problem completely. It just got me thinking, what is the app actually monitoring? Is it lack of coverage outright? Or locations where 4G drops out and devices fallback to legacy 2G/3G layers?

Re: My EE network monitor

Good Morning @bristolian and @Profile closed.

I've spoken with the relevant team to get an answer on this for you 🙂

The feature records the time and location when signal is lost completely on the phone.

Re: My EE network monitor

Hi @bristolian.

That's a great question!

With it being quite in depth, I'll need to see if I can get some more information for you so that I don't give you anything incorrect.

I'll see what I can find out and report back if I manage to get an answer 🙂
