Hey guys need your help , my contract is ending 6 November and going on sim only , was on phone contract uncapped data. EE can’t offer me good deal regarding EU roaming and uncapped just £29 while £31 is all rounder. They offered me £14 unlimited data , EU roaming but capped speeds at 100mbps. Unlimited data uncapped speeds being £23 but not including EU roaming unless paying £31 to get all rounder plan. Think now if i should go with the offer as would still like to stay with EE because they have better signal and coverage. Was thinking of Mozillion or 1p mobile but them piggy back of EE might not be the same quality in speed or service , they both do offer EU roaming and uncapped speeds. Out of the 2 Mozillion is cheapest £19 monthly sim 30 days rolling. Playing Red Dead Redemption 2 on PlayStation sometimes I come across booters so when they shut down your internet then I use my phone as hotspot and turn on vpn that I’ve got so will I notice the speed coming from uncapped to capped speeds. In my room on second floor can get around 300mbps , first floor living room not as great.
Solved! See the answer below or view the solution in context.

Aside from running speed tests, do you regularly undertake internet usage that needs >100Mbps speeds?
HD video streaming can reliably be done with ~5Mbps, only UHD needs more. Heavy downloading and conference/video calling are the other data-intensive activities that spring to mind.
I've been on an Essentials plan for several years with the same cap - it's only when congestion drops speeds below 5Mbps or so that I've ever noticed problems.
It's all down to personal usage patterns.

Do you have a question?

Yes i do have a question,
Is the speed noticeable if im gonna go to a capped speed if ive been used to fast speeds.

Hi @AlinCampan
It depends on your usage and location.
EE do not guarantees mobile speeds and as such they vary massively at times and locations with no consistency. As a result the reality of the situation is it makes no difference to 99% of users capped or uncapped other than the psychological/marketing impression you will be getting more with "uncapped".
If you're using a VPN it is irrelevant as you are tethered to the VPN speed. I would always invest in fixed line broadband for PC/Console gaming.
Personally I would look for extras such as free roaming EU/world or extra sport, netflix, Google etc to save money on those services if you use them.
Thanks

So i should be alright with capped speeds of 100mbps , hotspot phone to playstation now and again not always. I just like the sound of uncapped to be free to have fastest speeds rather then capped.
Price offered between capped and uncapped its ridiculous. If i decide to go with the offer given is still available for unlimited data EU roaming capped at 100mbps to test it as i would have 14 days to decide

When at home specially in my room second floor getting great speeds unless I’m on first floor in the living room or kitchen awful speeds not great but that’s same on o2 network too.
Regarding broadband with TalkTalk and don’t think their routers support vpn.
Might have chosen EE if they price matched TalkTalk 900Mbps speeds for £30 and Vodafone was £31, while EE being £36.99
My phone contract ends on 6 November and going sim only so wanting to make sure I make the right choice.
Having been on all rounder I’ve used the Apple services but don’t really want to pay extra just for that , just want basic features EU roaming and uncapped data.
Only going back home Romania in summer and staying for a whole month would cost me £42 to have EU roaming so would rather have it included.
